North Carolina Poetry News
We have a lot of poetry
activity in North Carolina. If
you have a North Carolina
news item, a reading, a
contest, or just a mention of
a new title published, let us
know at the Goose and we'll
add it to the Poetry News
Page.
POETRY HICKORY

The next Poetry Hickory will be held on Tuesday, October
13, starting at 6:30 at Taste Full Beans Coffeehouse in
downtown Hickory, as usual. The featured writers are
Debra Kaufman of Mebane, NC, author of Moon Mirror
Whiskey Wind and three other collections of poetry, and
Helen Losse, Poetry Editor of "Dead Mule" and author of
three collections, including the very recent Better with
Friends, both of which are being reviewed in the next issue
of Main Street Rag, one of our sponsors, which I hope will
be available just before the reading.  Even if those reviews
are not published before the reading, you can still learn a
bit more about each writer and see a poem of theirs on my
blog at www.scottowensmusings.blogspot.com.

Open Mic readers so far will include DW Bentley, co-owner
of Taste Full Beans, and Hickory native and CVCC student,
Anthony Straight.

Don't forget, for anyone who is interested in meeting with
other writers, sharing information on publication
opportunities, and possibly getting some feedback on your
own work, the North Carolina Writers' Network's Writers'
Night Out meets that same night in the same place at 5:00.
Anyone is welcome to attend.  You don't have to be a
member of NCWN or anything else for that matter.

Thanks, again, to Main Street Rag, Taste Full Beans, North
Carolina Writers' Network, and everyone who attends for
their support of this series and these wonderful writers.
Poetry Hickory occurs the second Tuesday of each month
at Taste Full Beans Coffeehouse in downtown Hickory.
